The Rotary Club of Anahuac was founded on August 24 1970 with 16 original members and under the guidance of its godfather club, Rotario Chapultepec.

Meetings are held in Spanish, every Tuesday 20:30 hrs at The University Club, Mexico City.

Club Rotario Anahuac may not be a large club in comparison but it has the distinction of having given Rotary International one of the great Presidents in the form of Frank J. Devlyn who was President during 2002-2003 year and whose theme was "Create awareness, take action" and who was also District 4170 Governor during the 1977-78 year.

Additionally, the club has the honour (at 2011) of providing three District 4170 Governors -
Ulises Vidaņa, 1980-1981;
Jorge Sekiguchi, 1985-1986;and
Guillermo Vazquez, 2004-2005.

The Rotary Club Anahuac founded The Rotary Club San Rafael (Mexico City), and also is the sponsor of two Rotaract Clubs: ULSA Anahuac and Anahuac.

At November 2011, the Rotary Club Anahuac has 22 members.

Over the years the club's main project has been education and assistance in Avoidable Blindness campaigns having performed over 500 cataract surgeries since 2004.

Again at 2011, the club was in the process of signing a Global Matching Grant to perform 250 surgeries more.

The club is also heavily involved in promoting safe and healthy drinking water and provides assistance to local communities in improving water sanitation.
