The records show that RC Kano, Kano State, Nigeria (official RI name) was admitted to Rotary International on 28 April 1961, the first club in Nigeria.

The club has a membership of 24 and meets every Monday at 20.00 at the Central Hotel in Kano.

The last information we have on the club auto-financed projects go back to the Rotary Year 1998-99. The club members were then very much involved in providing food and support to the Torrey Home, home of disabled children. Also auto-financed was the project at the Kurna Asabe Clinic in which the club provided equipment as well as drugs. Also a worthy club project is the support given to a local centre for motherless babies. There were also other projects of course and the club is indeed very active.

There were 2 other projects led by the club with Rotary Foundation financing. One in 1998 top provide a well and latrines for a village in Kano State and the most recent one to provide plastic surgery for riot victims.

The club has 44 PHFs, 10 PHF-Multiple and 1 Benefactor.
