This
extensive section of Rotary Global History was initiated early in the
development of the project, following a discussion between 2001-2002
RIBI President David Liddiatt of Great Britain and RGHF founder
Jack M.
B. Selway. (Hear President Liddiatt in a
2001 BBC interview) Courtesy of
PDG Peter Moreton, D1070 England Initially, it was the "1911" clubs which caused the expansion of what was then a much smaller project called "RotaryFirstFifty" to "RotaryFirst100" in order that the early clubs of the UK and Ireland might be included. Since then, two historians in the UK have joined the project, and, as you can see on the left, much of the early history from "Across the Pond," has been added. Our history fellows have provided us with background on the early clubs, RI and RIBI presidents and many other interesting histories. You'll enjoy the story of the "Forgotten Editor" and all the other heritage of Rotary in Ireland and the UK. Also, read the story of the "missing" Rotarian David Shelly Nicholl, an editor of the RIBI magazine. Also read the article that preceded one of our historian's book "Paul Harris in England."
