THE HISTORY OF DISTRICT 1950, GERMANY

A Part of Our History of Rotary in Europe

District 1950 is one of the 14 Rotary Districts of Germany and currently comprises a total of 59 clubs with 2,515 members (as of July 2008).

The most developed club is the Rotary Club of Eichstätt Altmühltal (Bayern) in the south of our District and the most widely located club is in the north of the District, the Rotary Club of Nordhausen (Thuringia).
Between the two clubs is a distance of 412 kilometres by road.

Our District was established on 1 July 1995 from 21 clubs of the District 188, and 17 which were transferred from the Thuringian region.

Overall, the district has been credited with creating an additional 38 clubs with 1,453 members since the District was formed in a short period of only 12 years.
