Andrei Danilenko, the first District Governor of Western Russia's 2220 District, has been a Rotarian over 10 years ; he is a successful entrepreneur in the field of agroindustry and zootechny, and has a clear understanding of what does the new District need in order to grow stronger and to make of Rotary Clubs a protagonist of Russian community life : for the Russian Rotary it is so very important to set the right tone, to  work on the spread-out of Rotary clubs even into small lesser known cities and towns.

In a territory where more than 100 million people live, for the time being there are but 50 Clubs: the vital target of the District team is that of increasing the number of Clubs, during the next three years, adding at least 30 ones to the Rotarian family,  thus increasing the number of members in the existing Clubs, and last, but not least, ensuring a satisfactory level of Rotary training

We call our foreign fellows, Rotary Districts, Clubs and ICCs, to support the action of Andrei and of his team by strengthening ties with Russian Clubs, by encouraging friends in Russian cities to set up new Rotary Clubs, to join the great family of people sincerely devoted to service

By twinning your Clubs with the Russian ones you’ll help us to show our new fellows all over Russia what Rotary is, which must be the role of Clubs in the relevant cities and towns, how do they need to entertain relationship with the municipal authorities

During Conference “Rotary in Russia” the horse “Beslan-Izbrannik” has been officially introduced to participants: donated by Rotary  (the ICC France-Russia and Rotary Club Moscow Renaissance) to the Moscow horse-riding club for Physically Challenged People (MKKI) thanks to Rotary Foundation Matching Grant 55125

The horse is being regularly used for a treatment program to achieve functional outcomes for the cure of disabled youngsters (including children affected by Down disease, autism and many other psychosomatic diseases) . Horse shall bears a horsecloth with the Rotary emblem as its brand, together with the emblems of  the two donors, during all the events it is going to participate, including the Paralympics Games in Beijing, China, 2008

The role of foreign friends of Russian Rotary is quite important a one , in view of common action for the dissemination of  community service values

Yours in Rotary

International Committee, District 2220
