the Great Wall" Rotary Club of Shanghai (first chartered 1st Oct 1919, RC #545) meets weekly for food, fellowship, to spread awareness of the Object of Rotary and to support worthy projects in the Shanghai community. Ivan Polacek, President 2001-2002 Rotary Club of Shanghai, first chartered 1 Oct 1919, RC #545 The late Rtn. Polacek is also a former vice president of Rotary Global History Acknowledgements also to Randal Eastman, RC Shanghai for permission to copy from Club's web site PEKIN ROTARY CLUB was organised in June 1924 and chartered 2 months later. As a result of the war with Japan, the club was terminated at the close of 1943. When the war was over, the club was re-admitted in March 1946 but on the rise of the Communist regime, it was again terminated in October 1951. SHANGHAI R.C. was organised earlier in July 1919 and chartered 10 weeks later. Like PEKIN, it was terminated, re-admitted and then terminated again on the same dates as PEKIN. |
