Part of our section on Africa

The Rotary movement reached the West African sub-region for the first time in French-speaking Senegal in 1939. The Rotary Club of Dakar was chartered on 10 July, 1939. Rotary gradually spread through Cote d'Ivoire and Cameroon, until it reached the first English-speaking country, Ghana, in 1958.
