Tajikistan became the 167th Rotary country when the Rotary
Club of Dushanbe received its charter on 5 April 2005.
Tajikistan joined District 2430, which includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Rotary Club of Dushanbe is active in various humanitarian projects
designed to assist children and elderly people of the country.
The Club is cooperating with Rotary International and many clubs around
the world to initiate its many planned projects for the benefit of its
community. As a new club at this point in time, our list is short but
growing.
In Dushanbe, the Club meets every Thursday at 6:00 pm at Segafredo
Cafe on Rudaki Avenue.
Local and foreign citizens interested in the activity of the Club are
invited to attend.
Even in this short space of time, some of our more interesting projects
have been -
# donated 10 wheelchairs to disabled people living in Khatlon’s Yovon district;
# implementation of a safe drinking water supply. The project was
launched under financial support of several US Rotary Clubs.
The first phase of the project included construction of the pump
station. The second phase, includes replacement of all underground
water pipes. $6,000 has been provided for implementing this project.
