History of Rotary in VENEZUELA

A Part of our History of Rotary in South America

Rotary came to Venezuela

Within a short period of time, Rotary spread quickly and widely throughout the country.

This rapid spread of clubs was due largely to the efforts of James H. Roth who had been appointed Special Ambassador to South America by Rotary International. He was fluent in all major languages spoken on the continent. Roth first came to Venezuela in September 1938 when he visited Valencia for the express purpose of forming a club in that city.

Roth had already been involved in the formation of Rotary Clubs in Peru, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Argentina and his assistance in the creation of the RC Valencia was followed by similar involvement in 8 other clubs before his departure from this country in 1939.
