Our section on "Early Leaders" provides short biographies and information about those early Rotarians who were responsible for the extension of Rotary Clubs throughout the world and covers the period, more or less, from Rotary's foundation in 1905 for the next 30-45 years.

While Rotary International continues to be introduced to new countries every year, those responsible for spreading Rotary will continue to be recognised.

The extension of Rotary International can be said to fall under two (2) categories -
 a) Those responsible for the formation of clubs and districts throughout the world (Early Leaders);
 b) Those whose deeds and dedication to the ideals of Rotary enhance the effectiveness and reputation of Rotary International throughout those same districts and clubs (Rotary Global History Fellowship Heroes.)

With approximately 5 million past and present Rotarians around the world, hundreds or thousands of members have dedicated themselves "beyond the call of duty." (Service above Self)

This new section attempts to provide information about those Rotarians members so as to inspire others and to record their dedication for posterity.

To be eligible for this award, Rotarians must have dedicated at least 10 years of their lives to the Rotary ideals, made a greater than significant contribution to the world at large, and be a financial member of the Rotary Global History Fellowship.
