was declared a Rotary Peace Community on 17 November 2000 having
been sponsored by RC Sapian, D2750 and initiated by Glen V
Perez. Being the largest of the 15 islands comprising the
Northern Marianas, Saipan declared its entire island as a Rotary
Peace Community, the first to move beyond the hitherto
conventional "city" boundaries.
