The history of the New York Club includes tthe following; "In an 

effort to start the wheels rolling, Elmer de Pue consulted with 

Daniel Cady of New York who, as close friend of Paul Harris 

dispatched Fred Tweed of Chicago ( one of the early members of the 

Chicago Club) to talk with Cady, de Pue and Bradford Bullock at a 

meeting held on August 18, 1909.  Six days later on August 24, 1909, 

the Rotary Club of New York was formed.  There were 15 charter
