Color print or watercolor painting of "Mt. Fuji from Yoshida". Signed by Huoshi (?) Yoshida. The Yoshida family was one of the best known group of artists in the Meiji period, after 1870. Perhaps the most outstanding was Hiroshi Yoshida, 1876-1950, and this may be by him. He was the leading exponent of wood block printing, a traditional craft. He toured extensively in the 1920s and 1930s and his work became popular in the U.S.A. and in Europe. 148 |
