General Smuts,
Paul Harris, General Hertzog. SOUVENIR OF A VISIT IN 1934. Black and white photograph, in Cape Town of General Smuts, Paul Harris, General Hertzog. This photograph was printed in The Rotarian magazine in June 1937 with the caption: "When Rotary's Founder Paul Harris visited South Africa in 1934, General Smuts (left) and General Hertzog (right) signalized their newly gained political amity by posing for this picture." The photo was taken during the district conference in Cape Town in 1934, and appears in the club's history book. It was probably taken at the official Governor's Residence at Tuin Huis Groote Schuur Estate, Rondebosch.
