Room at RI World Headquarters is dedicated in honor of Arch C. Klumph |
At RI World Headquarters, the office of The Rotary Foundation
Trustee Chairman was dedicated as the Arch C. Klumph Room on 17 April
2002. Coinciding with the 85th anniversary of The Rotary Foundation, the
event was aimed at honoring Klumph, who was the Foundation’s founding
father and the sixth president of Rotary International. In 1917, Klumph proposed establishing an endowment “for doing good in the world,” and that proposal became reality in the Foundation. As a result, today, millions of people around the world have benefited from The Rotary Foundation programs. Located on the 18th floor, the Arch C. Klumph Room is open to all Rotarians and visitors. Foundation Trustee Chairman Luis Vicente Giay*, who presided over the dedication ceremony, spoke of the early life and community involvement of Arch Klumph. Many Rotary senior leaders participated in the official ribbon cutting and the unveiling of the dedication plaques and a portrait of Klumph. In attendance were Foundation Trustees Glen Kinross (vice-chairman), Kalyan Banerjee, Irving “Sonny” Brown, Theodore D. Griley II, John Kenny, James L. Lacy, Byoung Kook Min, Carlo Ravizza, and Howard D. Vann along with incoming Trustees Frank Devlyn, Ray Klinginsmith, and Fumio Tamamura. Robert A. Coultas, aide to RI President Richard D. King, members of RI staff and other guests also attended. Past District Governor Bill Hite represented the Rotary Club of Cleveland, Ohio, in which Klumph was a charter member.
