Ernst G. Breitholtz

A Short Biography

Ernst Breitholtz, born 1905, died in 1991, industrialist in the AGA group, consultant, Rotarian.
Breitholtz was a member of the board of Rotary International between 1959 and 1961.
He was world president of Rotary International 1971-1972 and adopted the Creed "Goodwill Begins With You".

Breitholtz was even after his presidency engaged internationally in the Rotary movement, including as chairman of the Rotary Foundation in 1975.
During his presidency Breitholtz inaugurated the first Rotary Club in the former Eastern bloc, in Warsaw.

He also formulated a number poignant sentences such as "Rotary is not an organization, Rotary is a philosophy," "Step aside and let God use you", and his above-quoted motto.
