Why I Am A Rotarian

APRIL 18, 2006

I was exposed to Rotary early in life because my father was and is still is an active Rotarian. He usually brought us along to projects and other family oriented Rotary activities and fellowships. I admired the kind-hearted ways and generosity that most Rotarians have genuinely demonstrated towards those who have less in life and yet enjoyed their participation and their identification with Rotary to the hilt.

When I was invited to join Rotary in another district, I had second thoughts at first because I had doubts whether I can be like my father or the Rotarians that I have met previously. However, I started to find so much satisfaction in the good things that we do for others not to mention the camaraderie among members and with Rotarians of other clubs and districts. The Internationality of Rotary made it more exciting because as a Rotarian, we are no longer bound by boundaries and territorial limits. We are all one and the same regardless of our status in life.

My father and I are now both Past Presidents and Paul Harris Fellows. The Rotary experience for us has become such an enjoyable and enriching experience that we have decided to become Rotarians for life.
