Why I Am A Rotarian

MAY 16, 2006

In the spring of 2002, I attended our multi-district PETS in Seattle, Washington and met hundreds of other Rotarians.  The rest of the year was full of changes and challenges when my job of 23 years was eliminated just two months before taking over as club president.  Being president kept me active and engaged.

Since then I served as a GSE team leader to Pakistan.  What an incredible experience!

Where else would a woman from a very small town in very rural Montana have the opportunity to present a speech on global peace before a large gathering of dignitaries, business leaders, and intellectuals in Karachi, Pakistan (the Consul Generals of Great Britain and the United States were in the front row!!).

As District Secretary, District web site administrator (another thing I thought I would never do), serving on other District committees and the RYLA staff, I am now in contact with Rotarians in Montana USA (my district) and Rotarians around the world.

Rotary provides so many opportunities to meet people, to help people, and to change the world, a little at a time.  That is why I am a Rotarian.
