WHY I AM A ROTARIAN

What does ROTARY mean to me? ROTARY provides a splendid
opportunity that complements my strong personal mission to feel
at home everywhere in the world and to have friends in every
corner of the earth. My family business started by my
grandfather in 1910 as international import and distribution, so
that global outlook came naturally to me. When I was a child, in
spite of the war, my family always spoke of behaving amicably
toward international business friends at the time, whether
“allied” or “enemies.”
In the 1950’s, my parents sent me to England to study the
language and widen my horizons. My company has been successful
since then because I traveled a lot, and developed many friendly
international business contacts. Now we design, produce and
integrate through very innovative technologies systems for the
identification and traceability of products and routes.
In 1965, I attended, as a guest of my business friend and
enthusiastic Rotarian Ira Gottscho, my first ROTARY meeting in
Hillside, New Jersey, U.S.A..
Ten years later, I joined the ROTARY Club of Milano Sud-Est. The
long waiting time to be invited was perhaps the origin of my
great enthusiasm going into ROTARY and of my feeling of honor to
become a Rotarian.
I share the great values and service objectives of ROTARY. I
enjoy the ROTARY life. I exchange with interest different
opinions and new ideas with my fellow Rotarians. I work with
pleasure, I am very positive about ROTARY and I have sponsored
many new members. I do think that the potential of growth in
quality and quantity of ROTARY worldwide is very high. We all
should always look for new, fresh Rotarian talents.”
