Why I Am A Rotarian

APRIL 15, 2007

When I was invited to join Rotary in 1999, I had second thoughts at first because I had doubts whether I could devote time and effort to participate in projects and attend club and district affairs.

Participating made a difference in my life.

I started to find so much satisfaction in every project we do for others while undeniably enjoying the camaraderie among members and the friendship it offers and while I enjoy, I know I am a part of an Organization that touches people's lives.

I eventually asked my wife to join me in my club's activities, then my kids until it became a family thing for all of us.

With passing years, new doors opened up... serving as President, District Rotaract Chair, Assistant Governor, GSE Team Leader and who knows what's next in store for me. Each time I made new friends and Rotary gave me a deeper meaning in my life with each passing day.

Yes, we give not because of what we ought to receive, we share not because of what we ought to get and we do these because we ought to serve without anything in return for the desire of the heart is to help and give love and the desire of the hand to lend itself in service and the desire of the will is to try to practice the ideals of SERVICE ABOVE SELF.
