Why I Am A Rotarian

May 27, 2007

As a Group Study Exchange Team Member to District 5470 in April 2005, I experienced so many good things in the company of my Rotarian host families in Colorado and that made me decide to join the wonderful world of Rotary.  I would join if I were to get invited.

As we reached the last leg of our trip (Vail, CO), I finally decided that I would find a way to join Rotary even if my sponsoring club did not invite me.  When I came home to the Philippines, I was overwhelmed with how my new Rotarian friends from Colorado still continued to interact with me through e-mail.

My sponsoring club, RC Metro Lipa, had always invited me to join their meetings and fellowship and so I while visiting with them I had the chance to learn more and more about Rotary.  I did not have to think twice when I was at last invited into membership, and now I am ready to show visiting GSE Team members what “promoting international understanding” really means -- especially now that I am a part of the wonderful world of Rotary.

Day in and day out, I learn more about Rotary from having seen how Rotary works in making other people’s lives better.
