WHY I AM A ROTARIAN: DEREK TIGWELL
JANUARY 6, 2008
WWW.WHYIAM.ORG

I am a Rotarian because back in 1988 someone asked me to join the Rotary Club of Kiama Australia.
Since accepting that challenge I have moved residences 4 times and each move has resulted in another invitation to join the local Rotary Club.

For me joining Rotary provided an opportunity to work with local Rotary people and learn the true meaning of “service”.

That service opportunity has benefited me in large measure and I consider myself a better person more able to serve my community.

At the same time I have learned the value of good club organisation and have made Club service my speciality.

I do not have the financial resources to take on many large monetary challenges (I am a Paul Harris Fellow) but I willingly donate my time and service to help make this world a more peaceful and better place through Rotary.
