"We live in the present, we dream of the future,

but we learn from the past."

\

May 2011, Jean Viste

Jean VisteI was admitted to the Rotary Club of the Gulf of FOS in 2000 at the insistence of my sponsor, now deceased, Jean Paul Pernot. Although an asset in community life and political, I really had not planned to return to a Rotary Club.

He insisted during two good years at least. Then with the agreement of my wife Elizabeth, I have taken the plunge and I became a Rotarian. I could even say my wife is indirectly also in Rotary.

Immediately, I lived life to the fullest of my club with my participation in many events that save money to fund our many activities. Because at first he must go in a group consisting so do yourself the first approach and not rely on others.

I had a year of my Presidency exciting club because it matched the centenary of Rotary International, and there I found the management even if we are dealing with volunteers.

By September of that year I led the organization Eurotary87 in Fos sur Mer, an event that takes the initiative Einar Olsen Trap (club Gordes) brings together European club charts in 1987.

In 2006, as the action I missed, I knocked on the door of the District team; the Governor has me very quickly open by giving me the animation of the International action. The following three years, in three governorates as ADG (Deputy Governor). During these three years, I worked to promote the sector shares with eight clubs.

The question is why I'm in Rotary but I'm still Rotarian - Why?

First, it takes a bit of time because it is essential first to know Rotary.

Then they are at least 4 elements that make I stayed in Rotary :

- A willingness to look beyond its useful life.
- Rotary offers the opportunity to use his professional expertise to the other.
- The curiosity to work outside their scope of life and provide assistance outside their community.
- Moving from individualism to the collective in the camaraderie and conviviality.

At least these four reasons I'm still 10 years after Rotarian and I will be Governor of my District 1760 in 2011-2012.

Club: Golfe de Fos, District: 1760, Zone: 11 Member of the RGHF board
