History of IIW in Iceland   Clubs   Districts  
 
 History 
 Inner Wheel is an international movement that originated in Britain.
The first IW Club was founded in Manchester, England in 1924.
The International Association was then founded in 1967 and now enjoys over 100,000 all over the world.

The Inner Wheel movement was introduced to this country in 1973 when pharmacist Ingibjörg Guðmundsdóttir pharmacist established the Inner Wheel Club of Reykjavik.
The first club in Iceland was officially founded 15 March 1973.
Only a year later, Inner Wheel Akureyri was founded and now, as at 2008, 8 clubs with more than 280 women partners exist.
In 2010, the Akureyri Club was disbanded.

 
 Districts 
District 126 was created on 7 November 1987 to cater specifically for the large number of members in the country.
Iceland has one of the highest number of Inner Wheel members per population of all countries
 Clubs
 The first club in Iceland was the IWC Reykjavik which was chartered on 15 March 1973.
In 1974 the IWC Akureyri was formed and at 2010, 8 clubs exist in this country.
