Australian Rotary Health Research Fund

The story of the Australian Rotary Health Fund is an exciting one, from its inception to the present time, but it is a story that can never be up to date, for it is evolving as you read.

It has involved the vision of many dedicated Rotarians who worked to give it life and nurture it, to see it blossom into an amazing national community service project for Rotary in Australia.

In 1981 the Rotary Club of Mornington in Victoria proposed that a fund be established with the aim of raising a minimum $2 million through Rotary Clubs across Australia to invest this money and to use the income in a particular field of research in periods of up to four years duration.

A committee was appointed to develop the Fund and each Australian Rotary District was asked to accept the concept in principle - they did and the Australian Rotary Health Research was up and running. The corpus of the Fund is now in excess of $13 million and increasing.
