AsebolAnn Britt Åsebol, fourth Woman RI Board Member (Also see the RGHF Women and Rotary Video Project of 2013) (RID 12/14 Ann is an RGHF member)

The Women and Rotary will be pleased and proud when the Rotary International's Board takes office in 2012-14, as there will be three women on it. This is also a historic moment, having three women on the RI Board. A total of only four women have been elected to the RI Board so far. The first Woman Director, Catherine Noyer-Riveau, was elected from Paris, France for the years 2008-10; the second from, Michigan, USA,  Betsy Demaray for the years 2011-13. In the years 2012-14 the RI Board will have two more women, Ann Matthews from South Carolina, USA, who is a Trustee at the moment, and Ann-Britt Asebol from Sweden. Please also read about Ann Matthews, whose biographical sketch was published earlier, when she became the second woman Trustee in 2010.

We are very pleased and proud of these women who are pioneers; and we hope this trend will continue in the coming years. Please read the very short bio and see the photo of Ann-Brit Asebol below. Please make sure that you congratulate these outstanding women when you meet them.

Ann-Britt
is a member of the Swedish Parliament, and the incoming RI Director for 2012-14. She has a broad background in education, as teacher, principal and trainer at the Teachers Training Collage. She has started her own school for students between the age of 16 and 19 (senior high school). In her hometown Falun, Sweden she holds a lot of positions in the local society among others she is the chair of the Church.

Ann-Britt has been a politician for several years as County councilor of Landstinget Dalarna and now as member of the Swedish Parliament.

Ann-Britt is a Rotarian since twenty years and was District Governor in 2002-03. She has been a Regional Rotary Membership Coordinator and Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator. In 2005 and 2006 she was a Training Leader during the International Assembly and in 2010 she was the trainer for the Training Leaders.

Ann-Britt has two sons and a daughter and three grandchildren. In her spare time Ann-Britt enjoys skiing (both cross-country and down-hill) in the winter and golf in the summer. She is also fond of reading books and working in the garden.
